Re: Certified Medical Assistant vs. Medical Office Assistant

A "Medical Assistant" is at least an 18-month degree (diploma-certification depending on school). These skills are centered around giving shots, taking blood pressures, re-equiping rooms that have been used for examinations, keeping some records (not necessarily coding and billing), keeping equipment clean and in order-most of the basic nursing responsibilities that are not charting. A Medical Office Assistant does only the front office medical office secretarial work. As a coder and biller of a Certified Medical Adminsitrative Assistant, that person does ONLY the paper/computer entry/phone answering types of routines in a physician's office or clinic setting.
